National Qualifications Register
The National Qualifications Register (NQR) is a commercial product that’s owned and operated by Kroll. It was established as a result of agreements between Kroll and several tertiary educational institutions in South Africa to optimize the accuracy and speed of qualifications (education) verification. Education institutions have subscribed to the NQR to help offset the growing responsibility of their officials to provide qualifications verifications to interested parties (like prospective employers).
Outsourcing this information to Kroll helps these representatives stay focused on more strategic educational initiatives.
The NQR is an electronic register of all qualifications issued by subscribing institutions. It’s regularly updated to reflect the most recent graduation status for each institution, and enables almost instantaneous verification feedback for resident qualifications.
The institutions maintain ownership of their own information, with Kroll acting as a custodian. Using the NQR, which may be accessed via a suite of specialized software tools, Kroll performs qualification verifications on behalf of subscribing institutions and assesses the subscriber a reasonable fee.
The NQR is an important tool for the verification industry, and has been widely deployed to assist both public and private organizations in assuring the integrity of their workforces.
Since its inception in October 2000, the NQR has taken on real form, and is being actively used in the marketplace. To date, most of South Africa’s leading universities and technikons subscribe to the register, and Kroll is negotiating with several others for their inclusion.
The National Qualifications Register is a registered trademark of Kroll Inc. in South Africa.
