Quicker Criminal Record Results for Employers
LONDON, UK, May 11, 2010 – Companies conducting criminal record checks on their employees can expect a quicker turnaround from now on as the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) extends its e-Bulk service through selected partners.
Only available through a small number of Umbrella and Registered Bodies who have undergone a period of extensive testing and development with the CRB, e-Bulk aims to dramatically reduce the time taken to process criminal records by removing much of the paperwork and reliance on postal services.
“The CRB provides access to criminal record information through its disclosure service, enabling organisations in the public, private and voluntary sectors to make safer recruitment decisions by identifying candidates who may be unsuitable for certain work. The roll out of our first electronic application system represents a significant milestone for the Criminal Records Bureau and demonstrates our commitment to make all of our services accessible electronically and improve service efficiency” said Adele Townsend, CRB Director.
This milestone in UK CRB processing represents a significant enhancement to both candidate and companies alike, as this technological advance takes the paper out of the process.
“One of the most frequent reasons criminal record check applications get delayed is due to errors on the paper forms” says Traci Canning, Managing Director of Background Screening at Kroll, one of the Umbrella Bodies now offering e-Bulk processing. “The CRB has stringent requirements and currently a third of all of the criminal record check applications we receive get rejected because of missing information, illegible writing or even candidates using the wrong colour ink. E-Bulk will collect applicant information online and only allow submission when all required information has been supplied, ensuring that the disclosure application can be processed without delay.”
According to Katherine Janikoun, Director of Background Screening Systems and Software Engineering at Kroll, e-Bulk plays an important role in advancing screening technology and complements Kroll’s focus on innovation. “We have worked in partnership with the CRB to integrate their requirements into Kroll’s systems enabling us to deliver our clients and their candidates a seamless and much improved criminal record checking experience” says Janikoun.
